Like madness is the glory of this life. Shakespeare

{HISTORY}

Absolutely gorgeous in color and design, this antique needlepoint table runner brings all the beauty of the rambling rose garden indoors to delight diners during all meals of the day.

Hand-stitched on soft white cotton with an ivory-colored cotton border, one of the things we love best about this antique linen is the way in which certain roses have been stitched beyond the central panel and onto the ivory border. Just like real garden roses, this stitched variety climb and tumble their way along the cloth in carefree style.

Capturing the very essence of cottage roses, colors include bubblegum pink, burgundy, crimson, coral, all the greens (evergreen, watermelon green, mint green, spring green, pea green, army green) apricot, butter, charcoal, and white.

The border contains a beautiful finished edge on the back along with hand-stitching to secure the border panel all the way around the cloth. Most likely dating to the early 1900s, this beauty does contain a few minor blemishes so please check the condition section and all the photos for details.

Ready for a veritable kaleidoscope of decorating possibilities, we love this cloth paired with a mix of mismatched match vintage and antique dishware in assorted florals with complimentary colors. This runner also looks very elegant with all-white dishware arrangements.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

  • Antique cloth
  • Bright colors
  • Hand-stitched

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. The stitches are strong and sturdy. The cloth is clear and bright as well as the thread colors. There are four areas that have small rust marks (about the size of pencil points all located on the ivory border section. There are two pencil-point-sized holes in the central panel (both barely visible) mostly caused by a pin. And there is a small bit of fraying on two corners of the runner. Please see photos.

Please note: Although we did iron this runner for the photographs, it retains a little bit of a relaxed, carefree, wrinkled look given the nature of the needlepoint stitching and the lightweight of the cotton cloth.
