{HISTORY}

Full of graceful lines and interesting details this vintage mismatched collection of silver plate bread trays was made by three different New England silver companies between the 1920s-1950s.

The oldest one is the monogrammed one made by Gorham for their Colonial series. The monogrammed initials spell out the letters GHO - a romantic element that causes all sorts of potential naming patterns to take flight. George Orville Henderson. Ginny Olivia Hart. Gordon Olmsby Hughes. Grace Ophelia Heaton. Oh the possibilities! 

The tray with the scalloped edge that resembles flower petals is the next oldest dating somewhere between the 1920s-1940s era. It was made by International Silver and features their Early American pattern.

The third tray, made by Art S. Co (also known as Art Silver Co) features fluted edges and a lace-like pattern in the center. This one doesn't have a specific pattern name that we could find but it dates somewhere between the 1930s-1950s.

Tarnished to perfection, each tray carries its own amount of weathered patina and history making each one unique. Originally designed to serve bread, these three are still up to that task but they also offer other abilities too. One of our most favorite ways to incorporate vintage silverplate into the kitchen is on a wall or propped up on a shelf. Like a window or a mirror or a lamp, they bring instant light and a reflective shimmer to any space. They also make great serving trays for outdoor use and holders for any types of food that you want to serve on ice, like certain types of shellfish.

The Gorham tray measures 12.5" inches (length) x 7.5" inches (width) and weighs 15 oz

The International Silver tray measures 12.75" inches (length) x 7.5" inches (width) and weighs 1 lb.

The Art S. Co Tray measures 12" inches (length) x 6.5" inches (width) and weighs 12 oz.
