Art deco reflects confidence, vigor and optimism by using symbols of progress, speed and power. Robert McGregor

{HISTORY}

Although they were made in 1952, what's fun about this rare set of vintage Belmonte China Company salt and pepper shakers is their nod towards 1930s art deco design. Streamlined and classic, they emote bold architectural style in their unusual shape and contain simple gold detailing reminiscent of skyscraper buildings and automobile design.  True statement pieces for any 30's style kitchen!

The Belmonte China Company was located in East Liverpool, Ohio  - the hub of china manufacturing in the United States of the 19th and 20th centuries. While this section of Ohio was home to many long-standing dishware companies, unfortunately, Belmonte was in business for only one year - 1952. It is not certain if they faced a lot of competition from other local potteries or if they succumbed to business start-up woes but either way, we are very glad to offer this handsome pair in the shop. Limited runs on each piece that Belmonte produced, means that they are now a rarity in the marketplace thus making them all the more special.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

- Ivory and gold color scheme

- Art Deco style

- Stamped on bottom with the Belmonte China mark

{CONDITION}

Containing no chips or cracks, this pair is in lovely vintage condition. There is some rubbing on the gold P (please see photos) and neither shaker comes with stoppers on the bottom. This can easily be remedied by cutting wine corks to size and fitting them in the holes.

{SIZE}

Each shaker measures 3" inches (height) x 2" inches (base)

{STYLE IDEA}

Super pretty with other 1930s-era dishes, this pair looks lovely displayed in one of two ways - either standing up straight or resting on their sides to showcase the pretty gold lettering.
