To produce and perpetuate perfection - or as near unto perfection as may be attained in the household. The goal of Good Housekeeping, May 1885

{HISTORY}

The goal of the Good Housekeeping Institute, first established in 1900 as the Good Housekeeping Experiment Station, was to test products, techniques, applications and recipes for usefulness, validity and importance to the overall health and well being of the home and its household members. Renamed the Good Housekeeping Institute in 1910, they tested everything from appliances to cleaning products, dishware to food products to ensure that consumers were utilizing the best equipment,  products and methods available to care for their home and family. All products that passed their rigorous scrutiny were awarded the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, a designation still in effect today.

This 1930's shallow oven proof kitchen bowl was made by Paden City Pottery in 1936 as part of their Bak-Serv line. Decorated with the beautiful yellow, green and orange Golden Acacia pattern, it bears the Good Housekeeping Institute seal, which eased women’s minds that indeed this pretty dish could be baked in the oven without worry of breaking or exploding.

Not as deep as a traditional mixing bowl and not as shallow as a soup bowl, this vintage beauty is great for all sorts of purposes like mixing up eggs, batter or small batches of sweet treats. It also makes a pretty container for fruit on the counter, eggs in the fridge or bits and pieces in the pantry.
