{HISTORY}

With emerald-green floral bouquets of varying shape and size on all sides, this antique wash pitcher is a beauty from all angles. A rare example of an East Liverpool, Ohio pottery collective that operated during the slimmest of windows in the early 1900s, this pitcher is a unique time traveler that has navigated over 100 years of history and events.

In 1901, six small-scale potteries banded together in East Liverpool, Ohio to form a co-op so that they could compete effectively with some of the larger independent potteries in the area. Working together under the name East Liverpool Potteries Company, they worked together for two years before some of the six broke up and left the co-op to return to independent manufacturing. As it turned out, joining efforts wasn't the best financial decision for the group. More than half the members left. The remaining two potteries stayed within the collective until 1907 before disbanding altogether. This wash basin pitcher was made during that blip - just six years of time so long ago, yet here it still is traveling the world as a representative of communal effort. A marker of a moment.

Hefty in size and weight, this pitcher would have initially come with a matching washbasin and served as part of the daily grooming needs of Victorian life. Adventures were encountered.  Proof of that is in the long cracks at the rim and mid-section, both influential enough that this pitcher no longer holds water without leaking. But these few flaws do not discount its usefulness these days. This pitcher still makes a gorgeous vase if you tuck a smaller jar inside to hold water for fresh floral bouquets.  Otherwise, it's a beauty of a decor piece for display and appreciation.

{CONDITION}

In well-loved antique condition, this pitcher has seen its fair share of adventure. And that is what makes it lovely. There's a large hairline crack at the rim measuring 2.25" inches in length. A large hairline crack measuring 4.5" inches in length at the pitcher's midsection and a stress crack on the bottom measuring 1.75" inches. Yet despite these flaws, this pitcher is still remarkably sturdy and strong and retains beautifully detailed floral patterns that are crisp and clear.

{SIZE}
