Primitive Handmade Wood Swan Decoy - Rustic Folk Art
In all things of nature, there is something of the marvelous. Aristotle
One hundred percent unique with handmade personality and primitive charm, this vintage wooden decoy adds rustic beauty to the kitchen and the table. Made entirely of wood, with a neck and head that swivels, expressive eyes and a cute tail feather, this trumpeter swan steals the show when it comes to folk art fun.
Its age and maker are unknown, (although it looks like there is the hint of a signature on the bottom) but we think this guy has been around for at least quite a few decades, as evidenced by the cracks in the wood, the weathered paint job and his lightweight composition (just over 2lbs).
We haven't tested his ability to float, which would make him a true working decoy, so we can't vouge for his swimming abilities but that's no matter. We think he makes a better subject swimming around the kitchen table than the pond out back.
As symbols of love and devotion, swans add a touch of elegance to any setting. This guy offers a host of decorating possibilities throughout the year, especially when it comes to table centerpieces and mantel decor. And thanks to his size (10"x12"x 5") he can easily fit in a variety of spots in the pantry, on the counter, in a cupboard or on the table.
- Unique, handmade design
- Primitive aesthetic
- All wood
In strong and sturdy shape, this swan bears some cracks in the wood as seen in the photos. None of these cracks affect the overall composition, yet instead, add weathered charm. The neck is attached to the base via a dowel rod, which allows the head to rotate in a 360-degree fashion easily. Please see photos.
Measures 10" inches (height) x 12' inches (length) x 5" inches (width) and weighs 2.2lb
Thanks to his rustic style, this bird looks great with all sorts of farmhouse decor pieces, primitive wood furniture, and country cottage aesthetics.
