The world is but a canvas to our imagination. Henry David Thoreau

{HISTORY}

Good things come in small packages when it comes to miniature teapots. This child's play piece is made of porcelain and features a blue and white Asian boat scene with mountains and pagodas. Unique, in that it is not the more commonly found Blue Willow pattern, this one features a lace-like floral border, a deep navy blue color palette and a fully decorated lid.

Although unmarked, this mini teapot was made most likely in China around the early 20th century. Originally it would have been accompanied by a set of teacups and saucers for a complete tea party experience. Unfortunately,  the fate of kid's toys does not always bode well when it comes to time traveling.

So we here are ten, eleven, twelve decades later with the remaining piece of a little one's creative playtime activity. If we were supposing more scenarios, we would say this teapot came home as a gift for a child whose dad or uncle or brother was serving overseas in the military and wanted to bring a special treat back for his little tea partier. That was a not uncommon, very thoughtful gesture at a specific time in history, that introduced a lot of Asian porcelain tea set as souvenirs to the United States for both kids and adults.

Nowadays, this cute little wonder makes a fabulous statement piece in your kitchen, offering further creative inspiration whether you are a kid yourself or simply a kid at heart. The lid is removable, so if you'd like to give it a purpose, it makes a fabulous holder for air plants, a petite whimsical sugar bowl for the tea tray or a holder for hors d'oeuvres picks for the tea party table.
