{HISTORY}

In 1953, Taylor Smith Taylor launched their Versatile dishware line designed by John Gilkes, a designer employed at TST. Presenting a new way to look at dishware shapes, the Versatile style featured smooth shapes and rimless edges for a more modern, sleeker look, unlike anything the pottery had produced before.

Comprising many different patterns within this new series, these two Versatile plates were made in 1957 and feature a sparkly floral gold rim and a center rose bouquet. Delicate and artistic, the gold rims catch the light in the prettiest of ways, making these two dinner plates ideal serving pieces for candlelight dinners and sunny outdoor entertaining. 

Although we have et to determine the pattern name, these plates look really pretty when paired in mix and match fashion with other filigree and cottage rose dishes. When placed on the table underneath a coupe-style soup bowl or a salad plate, the gold rims add an extra dose of dynamic visual appeal.

{CONDITION}

These plates contain no chips or cracks. One plate was scattered with an extra spray of gold dust near the center floral during the manufacturing process, which gives it an extra glittery effect. Both plates contain two patches of lightly faded rub marks. Please see photos.
