Vintage Johnson Bros Blarney Castle Dinner Plate circa 1970s - Old Britain Castles Series
A dinner conversationalist's dream...
{HISTORY}
We are not sure if there is a better subject matter for a vintage dinner plate than this one featuring Blarney Castle. Located in Cork, Ireland the Castle, dating to 1200 AD contains the famous Blarney kissing stone. According to Irish legend, if you kiss the stone you will be rewarded with the gift of eloquence and charming conversation. Just exactly the thing you need for a memorable dinner party with interesting discourse.
Made by Johnson Bros in Stoke-on-Trent England, this beautiful blue and white dinner plate was part of the Old Britain Castles series which debuted in 1930 and became so popular in the American market, it was continually produced up until 2003. This plate in particular was made around the 1970s and features the prestigious royal warrant of appointment stamps for both Queen Elizabeth II and her mother, Queen Elizabeth I (the Queen Mother).
With its scalloped edge, decorated rim, and pastoral scene, this plate is a beauty for both table service and wall display and looks especially stunning when paired with other blue and white vintage and antique dishware. Ready for 40 more years of fascinating conversation, this plate is in gorgeous condition.
