{HISTORY}

Crepes smothered in strawberries, a tower of cherry tartlets, raspberry layered chocolate cake, rustic tarte tatin, brie dipped in warm fruit compote, pink macaroons, cream puffs dripping with chocolate sauce, hazelut sprinkled profiteroles... there's just about a zillion desserts that would look lovely when served on this beautiful French cake plate. 

Featuring a repetitive art deco design and a red stripe all the way around the rim, this hard to find-pattern contains the best of both worlds - dynmaic 1920s/1930s style and a classic red and white color palette. Although unkmarked as to maker or manufacturer, we've seen one other example of this design listed in an antique shop in France, so we suspect it might be of European manufacture. 

Mystery aside, apart from desserts, cake plates also moonlight well as cheese servers, cocktail trays and hors d'oeuvres platters as well as wall decor.

{CONDITION}

In good vintage condition, this cake plate has definietly seen a few baking adventures in its lifetime. There are four small age-old chips on the backside of the plate. None of the chips are larger than 1/4" inch in length. There is also one small pinpoint sized chip on the front of the dish near the rim. During the manufacturing process a small portion of the front side of the plate was errantly glazed which esulted ina small rough spot once the plate was fired. This spot can only be seen upon close inspection.
