The trend of modern existence requires more than ever that the home be surrounded with comfort, with daintiness and harmony. The Oakland Tribune,1924

{HISTORY}

Combining the talents of two French porcelain manufacturers located in Limoges France, this set of vintage porcelain berry bowls features a beautiful windswept navy blue and lavender-grey cornflower pattern. Arranged in falling sprig fashion, each flower petal is accented with simple reddish-orange lines forming a star-like pattern inside each flower face that adds quite a bit of interesting detail. At quick glance, the combined blue and red shapes almost resemble the lines of the Union Jack flag, making this pattern feel almost British in its design and intention.

Bearing the marks of M. Redon (Martial Redon) -  a porcelain pottery founded in Limoges in 1861 and also that of PL Limoges (La Porcelaine Limousine) - a decorating studio, factory and later partner of M. Redon, these bowls most likely date to the 1920s-1930s era just before the factory closed and the partnership ended in the late 1930s.

Delicate and ideally sized, this wildflower pattern is so pretty for year-round tablescapes but especially lovely for spring and summer designs. Berry bowls are one of our most favorite dish sizes in the kitchen as they accommodate all sorts of needs and functions. From pet food bowls to spice dishes, breakfast bowls to food prep holders,  snack servers to hors d'oeuvres carriers, and everything in between when it comes to breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert, the berry bowl is a true helper in the kitchen.

Because of their French origin, these four bowls also add a little extra joie de vivre when it comes to cooking and tablesetting.
