{HISTORY}

Every time we run across the Norway Rose pattern, here in the Vintage Kitchen, it reminds us of an elegant ladies luncheon or brunch or round table meeting where important decisions get made in a feminine and intelligent way. 

Made between the 1940's and 1960's, this trio of Cunningham & Pickett dessert plates features the elegant Norway Rose pattern, which is comprised of six complimentary shades of grey, pink and ivory.  Stamped on the back with the C & P mark as well as the pattern name, many dish lovers assume this pattern was made by Cunningham & Pickett in Alliance Ohio, but actually it was made by Homer Laughlin in West Virginia.

Cunningham & Pickett was actually a distributor of dishes, not a maker. It was not unusual for distributors and makers to interchange patterns and plate shapes on various dishware and then add their own mark to the backstamp. This can be a little bit confusing for dish buyers but a fun detail for collectors as you can discover lots of interesting mismatched shapes and patterns.

In the case of these three dessert plates, The Norway Rose has been made using Homer Laughlin's Caviler shape as well their Georgian Eggshell. In the case of these three dessert plates, they were made using the Georgian Eggshell shape which features a delicate embossed  beading that runs around the rim.  An extra dose of feminine detail, these plates are bound to make any dessert look like a dainty dream:)
