{HISTORY}

The classic style of an antique cake plate runs the gamut of universal purposes and possibilities far beyond traditional dessert service. This beauty features a thick gold stripe around the rim and delicate raised ivy leaves. A design that adds just enough subtle style to add unique visual interest while also blending in with a bevy of other dishware. 

Simple, understated and highly adaptable, we love it for all its gorgeous food presentation potential. Cheese and crackers, a collaboration of fruit, summer salads, winter cookies, charcuterie, seafood, petit fours, tea sandwiches, bonbons... and of course, your famous, favorite, everybody-loves-it cake. 

Although unmarked as to maker, we suspect this plate was made by Tressemanes & Vogt - a French Limoges porcelain maker and New York City importer who was in business between 1891-1907.

Heavy in weight, this plate is very dense but when held to the light you can see a thin band of delicate porcelain that extends from the edge to the width of the handles before dissolving into thicker clay near the center. That type of construction gives this plate a substantial and sturdy composition and the ability to hold heavier foods confidently and carefully.

{CONDITION}

In beautiful antique condition. There are no chips, cracks or staining. The gold stripe is very shiny and bright with just the slightest, lightest of wear in a few spots around the edge. Please see photos.

Measures 10.5" inches (length - handle to handle) x 9.5" inches (width) and weighs 1.8lbs.
