Antique Porcelain Sugar Bowl with Three Legs - Hand-painted in Rococo Colors
...but who will remain to enjoy you? Jane Austen
{HISTORY}
A Rococo lover's dream, this antique porcelain sugar bowl features the most beautiful shade of mint blue, complemented by amethyst, lemon yellow, celadon green and shiny, shimmery gold detailing. Perched on three dainty feet, tri-pod style, the bowl itself contains hand-painted gold beading around the rim and gold detailing on each handle. The lid features a matching arrangement of flowers, beading, and a gold-striped button-style knob.
Although unmarked as to maker or manufacturer, we suspect this sugar bowl was made in Japan around the late 1800s or early 20th century, with an aesthetic that mirrors the Rococo era (1720-1770s). Rare in style, shape and color palette, this lovely little bit of servingware contains handpainted mum-style flowers and gold flourishes around both the base and lid.
An absolutely gorgeous inspiration piece for room decor and design, it's not hard to imagine an entire room filled with complimentary colors from painted walls to furniture thanks to this little beauty.
