{HISTORY}

A mystery for certain, this antique porcelain cream and sugar set may be unmarked as to maker or manufacturer but what it lacks in attribution it more than makes up for in beauty. A rare pattern in the porcelain world, this pair features handpainted flowers in autumn shades of rust orange and pale peach.

Combined with gold stripes around the rim of both the creamer and the sugar bowl and stylish designs on the handles and lid, the scattered flowers add a dainty and elegant aesthetic to the overall composition of each piece.

Befitting a century's worth of time and adventure, the creamer bears four tiny chips along one side of the rim that are so small and so in keeping with the gentle scallop of the rim's design you barely notice them. Because this creamer and sugar bowl are a matching pair of rare aesthetic, we wouldn't dream of casting aside one for its slight imperfections when they are still so handsome together. 

Did they come to the States via steamer ship in the 1800s? Did they travel by train in a straw-filled crate in the early 1900s or in a soft satchel nestled close to the body of a newly arrived immigrant who valued them beyond measure? Perhaps. The story of this antique cream and sugar bowl set could lie in any one of those situation or perhaps another experience entirely different. We may never know the exact details of how they got from France or Japan or Germany or any of the other porcelain manufacturing hubs in the world to life here in America, but their ability to travel time long enough and well enough to greet the second decade of the 21st century is story enough.

{CONDITION}

In lovely antique condition. Please see notes on the creamer above. Both pieces are free of cracks, spots and stains.  There are two tiny tiny tiny chips on the interior of the lid - both only noticeable upon the closest of up-close scrutiny. There is some fading of the gold detailing on both the sugar bowl and the creamer as expected with age. Please see photos.
