Antique Johnson Brothers England Covered Dish - Semi Royal Porcelain - White Granite
The power of finding beauty in the humblest things makes home happy and life lovely. Louisa May Alcott
{HISTORY}
Made by Johnson Brothers in Staffordshire England, this beautiful antique covered dish with its scroll style handles and gold accents adds elegance to the table in a most versatile way.
One of the most successful English potteries, in business from 1890-2015, Johnson Brothers, specialized in exporting dishware to the American market. Unlike other English potteries who catered to English sensibilities, Johnson Brothers followed the buying trends and styles of American consumers, making them adept at understanding the serving needs of American households.
This covered dish is made of royal semi-porcelain. Also known as white granite, it is similar to ironstone and was valued for its strength and durability. With its classic shape, scroll style handles, bright white color and handpainted gold detailing this hard to find piece offers just the right amount of design and simplicity, offering numerous styling options and functions. Not limited to simply serving food and keeping it warm, this dish also makes a lovely table centerpiece, storage vessel, or decorative statement piece.
