{HISTORY}

Made in Cincinnati, Ohio by the Homan Silver Plate Company, this antique creamer was originally part of a cream and sugar set for tea and table service. Made of silver plate on nickel with a white metal (aka plated pewter) handle it was part of the holloware trend popular in the early 1900s through the 1920s.

Containing all sorts of graceful details, this creamer is a classic beauty in all ways, not only in its overall shape but also in the embossed floral design just under the rim, the monogrammed N on one side, and the fleur-de-lis designs on the handle. Known as the Louisiana pattern and/or shape, it also contains a very dainty repeating dot design that wraps around the rim and base, and a scroll-like flourish that accents the top of the handle.

Beautifully aged and tarnished, this must have been a beauty of a set back when it was paired with its matching sugar bowl, but nowadays since it travels history on its own, we think it makes an especially pretty vase for fresh cut garden flowers.

Whether you tuck it into a bookshelf, add it to your table decor, or display it on your kitchen shelf, it's sure to add a little bit of elegant style to your space. And the monogram makes for fun guessing as to what name it stands for... Neal, Newman, Ng, Nash, Niles, Nelson, Nichols... the possibilities go on and on.
