{HISTORY}

Creativity abounds when it comes to the functionality of an antique pedestal bowl. Put two in the mix, and you have a veritable blank canvas for creating all sorts of dynamic tableware and kitchen displays.

Ideal for decorating and serving, these two beauties are exquisitely detailed with embossed scallops, dots, and decorative flourishes. Made by W.H. Grindley & Co in Tunstall, England between 1914-1925, originally, they may have been made for serving soup, cereal, relish or fresh fruit but nowadays, they offer much more possibility.

Each bowl measures 3" inches in height and 5.75" inches in diameter, which also makes them an interesting size and shape for table centerpiece decor, too.  Mini Christmas trees, succulent gardens, forced bulbs, fresh flowers or topiary towers made of fruit or nuts are just a few ideas for incorporating these two into festive table arrangements that easily evolve with the seasons.

Classic in all the best ways, these two might be over 110 years old, but they are absolutely timeless when it comes to style, easily fitting in with contemporary, vintage and antique pieces and decor.

In operation for over 100 years, W.H. Grindley & Co. was founded in 1880 in England's bustling pottery hub of Stoke-on-Trent.  Makers of both mass market china and hotelware for export, W.H. Grindley pieces came in an array of eye-catching designs and color palettes. Associated with a handful of other notable potteries throughout its 100-year run, including Alfred Meakin, Grindley ceased operation in 1991 after being acquired by Woodlands Pottery.

These two are rare finds when it comes to collecting Grindley pieces as well as antique pedestal dishes, making them all the more special when it comes to creating unique tablescapes.

{CONDITION}

In beautiful antique condition, these two contain no chips cracks, spots or stains with the exception of the tiniest chip (pencil point size) on the rim of one bowl. This chip is so small it was difficult to photograph and is barely noticeable. Also, one bowl has a slight lean to it in relation to how it sits on the pedestal. This is a manufacturer's flaw, which gives the bowl a bit of extra charm and character.  Please see photos.
