{HISTORY}

In the 1920's there was a sense of freedom and gaiety in the air. Life was beginning to look a little bit different to women than the worlds their mothers had known previously. This exciting sense of change seeped into all the crevices of daily life and the world slowly began evolving in new and unexpected ways.  It was a decade of inspiration and ambition, of throwing caution to the wind and staking independent claims, of getting voices heard and attention paid, of growing confidence and gaining self-worth.

In the middle of all this newfound excitement were the teacups. This set of four, in particular. Four people held onto the handles of these four cups and started a conversation or two or three or a million more. We bet among the sips and the sugar splashes, the cream pours and the spoon stirrers, there was talk of bravery and new horizons. We bet there were bold declarations of goals to be accomplished and dreams to be dared. Maybe,  between all that talk of heroism and hope, there was a little bit of gossip mixed in too - speculations on how the future would play out, who might be involved and what exactly it all might mean years down the road.

In the 1920's, four hands held onto the four handles of these orange poppy teacups and a conversation started. Today, one hundred years later, these same teacups are greeting similar, exciting conversations as the world evolves in new and unexpected ways.

- Although unmarked on the bottom, these cups were made by National Ivory in the 1920's

{CONDITION}

The gold rim around each cup is faded in spots due to age. There is one small 1/4" inch very light hairline exterior crack on one cup near the rim. Two of the cups each have a very small old, time worn chip near the rim.  Very light crazing around the base of each cup. Please note, these teacups do not come with matching saucers.
