But its food landscape is incredibly captivating all on its own. Boasting the freshest ingredients, local wines, abundant seafood, and a meneragie of cultural influence, San Francisco is a foodie town offering dynamic cuisine around every corner. 

In this 1986 cookbook, published by the Junior League of San Francisco, all the delectable treats of this dynamic city come together to shed a spotlight on the foods that have tantalized the appetites of travelers and locals across centuries.

Covering all the corners of the city from hill to valley, mountain to bay, and back again, agricultural history opens each chapter detailing wineries and vineyards and how they complement local fare. Illustrations by celebrated California artist Earl Thollander (1923-2001) are peppered throughout and a sampling of suggested menus offer inspiration in the appendix. Incidentally, suggested menus are one of the most delightful hallmarks of vintage Junior League cookbooks. Their creativity comes forth in all sorts of party idea suggestions. Our favorites here in this cookbook include menus for a Moroccan Ali Baba Night Party, a Summer Cocktail Buffet, a Year of the Dragon Party and a Summer Tennis Luncheon.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. this cookbook is very clean and bright throughout with no cooking spots or stains. There is one recipe (for Rice Pilaf) that includes measurement notations written in red felt pen. The dust jacket contains chippy areas along the top and bottom edges - most of these have been secured with clear tape on the inside jacket but remain slightly frayed on the exterior. All pages are intact, the spine is tight and the coverboards are clean and clean and bright.
