{HISTORY}

Food writer Lou Seibert Pappas is no one-hit wonder when it comes to cookbook writing. She has published over 50 books on a wide range of subjects from pancakes to crock pots and practically everything in between.

In 1973, she published this Crossroads of Cooking, an international selection of over 150 recipes that was sparked by her own German and Swedish heritage and her husband's Greek family. Travel trips abroad during the 1960s and 1970s attracted Lou to the kitchens, specialty food shops, and traditional restaurants of the countries she visited. Learning recipes, techniques and special ingredient combinations from time-honored cooks and foodies, those experiences led to this collection of recipes captured with the essence of authentic cooking always in mind. 

Older international cookbooks like this one are always exciting finds here in the Vintage Kitchen. We love them for their natural curiosity, their stalwart desire to reproduce authentic fare, and their joie de-vivre as writers began to travel about the world more thanks to the increasing accessibility and ease of air travel. These were times of complete awe and earnestness and respect for other cultures and their food.

At the beginning of each recipe, Lou provides an interesting little note about the food about to be prepared. Whether it is about its history, a presentation suggestion or a cooking tip, they each offer additional insight into the magical appeal of making an international meal.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. The dust jacket bears some fading, rub marks and chippy areas on the top and bottom edge. The decorated coverboards are in great shape with just a a bit of fading around the edges. The interior is clean and bright with no spots or stains. The spine is tight and all pages ae intact.
