Roots are not in a landscape, or a country or a people, they are inside you. Isabel Allende

{HISTORY}

Traveling all the way from the vineyards of sunny Santiago, this vintage wooden fruit crate  comes from Aconex, one of Chile's largest and oldest fruit growers. Founded in 1976, Aconex exported over a dozen types of fruits and vegetables around the globe including asparagus, apples, peaches, pears, kiwis, and the star of this show - grapes.

With its colorful label, nailed slats and sturdy constitution, it bears marks of an adventurous life - just the kind of unique character you look for in an old box. Featuring a shabby paper label, a splintered corner edge and various scuff marks due to journeying, lots of stories can be imagined about this handsome helper and all the people and places it has encountered over the past 40 years.

Beginning with the pastoral agriculture fields then traveling to the bustling city before being loaded onto a boat and set to sea on its way to its intended destination, this box not only held lots of grapes but also lots of rough and tumble adventure and came in contact with a host of people that affected its ability to withstand time and place so that we could greet it here today. There are the box makers, the vineyard pickers, the business coordinators, the customs workers, the grocery retailers and finally the consumers and collectors, each having touched this box in their own magical way before passing it along through days and then decades. Isn't that a marvel?! So many interesting connections to one simple wooden box...
