Vintage Syracuse China Square Dinner Plate - Moonstone Pattern - Rare 1980s Restaurantware
Good food should be joyful. There should be laughter and chatter... Jim Harrison
{HISTORY}
In the quote above, Jim Harrison was talking about how the atmosphere in restaurants should be lively, not solemn and never ever dull. We couldn't agree more. Half the fun of collecting vintage restaurantware like this Syracuse dinner plate is imagining the life it lived in the restaurant it served. What type of place was it? Who ate there? Where was it located? What was the most popular dish on the menu? With the ability to take over a dinner conversation in seconds vintage restaurant dishes serve up more than just a meal - they offer flawless functionality and a big dollop of dreaminess.
Made in the 1980's, this vintage Syracuse China dinner plate is from their Moonstone pattern line which is a very hard style to find these days. We like to think that's because it is such a classic beauty and goes with practically everything. With its embossed edge and slightly squarish/rectangular shape, it's a big plate just waiting for a hearty meal or a small assembly of snacks to share. Either way you"ll be guaranteed a good time, hopefully with lots of laughter, and if you've picked the right tablemates, plenty of chatter.
Named after the city where it started (Syracuse, New York) Syracuse China was leader in restaurant ware manufacture for over 135 years. Through name changes, company restructuring, competition and buyouts, they managed to navigate the changing landscape of the American dish market with style and dedication to quality and craftsmanship still appreciated and admired today.
