Meet Buttercup... your kitchen's new little sweet-as-pie pal.
Chirping her way onto your countertop, this cute little vintage duckling is all cheer and camaraderie when it comes to joy in the kitchen. Made in Japan in the 1980s, she was part of the Otagiri Mercantile Company's 20th-century giftware line before the company was sold to Enesco in 1994.
Included along with a menagerie of other collectible figurines, this duckling was handmade in Japan and then exported to San Francisco for retail sale in luxury gift shops and department stores.
Affable, entertaining and always ready to play follow the leader, throughout history ducklings have symbolized comfort, happiness and grace. Their love of food and family, and their strong sense of loyalty make them an ideal mascot for home and garden life.
This little charmer is no exception. She'll happily perch on a kitchen shelf or a windowsill and watch all the activity coming and going throughout the day. Finely detailed with a fluffy feathery body and an upturned face, this duckling is mini in size but mighty when it comes to personality.
Well traveled and in remarkable shape for her 40-plus years of age, Buttercup has stamped her passport book with far-flung adventures that include Japan, California, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, but she's a really a homebody in search of a forever friend. Once she meets you she promises to bring nothing but sunshine and smiles your way.
