From the enterprises of two dry goods store owners and a land steeped in tobacco history, comes the story of 140-year-old company that became famous around the world...

{HISTORY}

Aromatic Kentucky Club Mixture smoking tobacco was first introduced on the market in 1934. But its roots in the tobacco industry go back much farther, to the start of the stogie boom in Wheeling, West Virginia during the 1800's. Known as the stogie capital of the U.S., Wheeling bustled with tobacco factories, entrepreneurial spirit and a taste for perfectionism. As a side business to their dry goods grocery store, brothers Aaron and Samuel Bloch established their own tobacco enterprise in the late 1880's. They specialized in high-quality hand-cut stogie remenants ideal for pipes and hand-rolled cigarettes.

Packaged in pouches that guaranteed a more fresh product, their business quickly took off and they were able to navigate away from the groceries and dry goods and focus solely on their new success, The Bloch Brothers Tobacco Company. Keeping them busy throughout the turn of the century and into it's new decades, the Bloch bothers introduced new product lines as the company grew and popularity continued to increase.

Kentucky Club was born during the great depression, a blend of five different types of imported and domestic tobacco including Turkish, Perique, White Burley, Carolina and Virginia Brights. Like its parent brand, Kentucky Club also became a favorite among smokers around the country and is still available on the market today. This vintage tin dates to the 1960's-1970's.
