"You cannot surpass American glass..." (Advertising slogan for the West Virginia Glass Speciality Co, 1952)

{HISTORY}

Autumn comes home to the bar cart...

From the state that produced more glassware than any other area in the country, comes this tall martini pitcher decorated with a pair of colorful pheasants. Made by the West Virginia Glass Specialty Company in Weston, WV during the mid-20th century, this handsome skinny barware beauty is all sophistication in its minimal design, shimmery gold stripe and autumn color palette.

In the latter half of the 20th century, West Virginia was producing 85% of glassware in America. One of the largest and most popular companies was West Virginia Glass Specialty Co., which made an array of glass products for stylish home decor. Especially admired for their pieces that contained colorful decals, W.V.G.S.Co produced this martini pitcher between the 1950s and 1960s.

Originally a part of a whole line of pheasant glassware, you could find high ball glasses, low ball glasses, shot glasses and tumblers decorated with this regal pair of birds. The martini pitcher was also offered with a skinny glasses stirrer as well to ensure not only a delicious cocktail but also a delightful design aesthetic.

Lovely for all sorts of beverages besides martinis, this glass pitcher offers a stylish way to serve your favorite whiskey, brandy or scotch as well as iced tea, speciality cocktails, and tasting samples of home-brewed beer. Gardening enthusiasts will also love its ability to moonlight as an autumn vase too.

Pheasants have long been the subject of the artistic world making them a fun companion to the cocktail hour. They symbolize optimism, creativity, elegance and possibility all words that could also describe your favorite cocktail and possibly your favorite cocktail pal as well.
