A useful item for gift or home... (from a 1968 newspaper ad featuring paper mache trays)

{HISTORY}

Made in Japan and imported to the US during the 1960s, this paper mache tray added a touch of exotic appeal to mealtimes, parties and cocktail hour.

Popular since the 1800s, with its black chintz pattern and colorful floral bouquets, paper mache trays offered year-round style for all sorts of everyday events from neighborly teatime get-togethers with friends, to swanky late-night cocktail parties, to cozy tv dinner nights in the den. 

In pretty but somewhat shabby condition, this tray has seen the best of all the mealtime moments. Its 12"x14" inch size holds quite a bit - two teacups with saucers, or four wine glasses and a bottle of vino, or one dinner plate with room left for napkin and flatware. Whether you are serving breakfast in bed, drinks on the patio, snacks in the sunroom, or coffee in your office, this tray is ready to make the occasion as pretty as possible.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage shabby chic condition, this tray features some wear around the rim where the edge of the floral design has worn off. The bottom left-hand corner on the chintz pattern area has rubbed away in one small spot - evidence of a hand mark that would have rested in that area when carrying the tray. The pattern itself on the front is in great shape with clear, crisp designs and colors. The back of the tray bears assorted light scuff marks as expected due to age.  This tray is very strong and sturdy with decades of useful life still in it. Please see photos.
