Vintage Midcentury Kerite Splicing Tape Storage Tins - Two Available
No sound once made is every truly lost. In electric clouds all are safely trapped, and with a touch, if we find them, we can recapture those echoes of sad, forgotten wars, long summer, and sweet autumns. Ray Bradbury
{HISTORY}
A home organizer's delight, these two vintage Kerite metal tins once held splicing compound tape for electrical cables during the 1950s/1960s era. With great fonts and their striking black metal design, these square-shaped tins now make appealing storage boxes for all your home improvement bits and bobs.
Still going strong today, Kerite was first founded in 1854, and has been involved in all sorts of innovative projects over the past two and a half centuries including work on telegraph lines, underwater cables, railroad signals and power cables throughout the country. They even worked on the Panama Canal. Maybe that is just the kind of inspiration you need to tackle an electrical project in your kitchen!
Around here, we like to use old tins for all sorts of organizational projects, but every once in a while, a vintage tin will come along with such great graphic appeal, they also serve as wonderful display pieces on a shelf or in a vintage-inspired vignette for parties or celebrations. These two boxes certainly fall into the decorating dynamo category as well as being useful containers.
