{HISTORY}

First debuting in 1937, Homer Laughlin's Kitchen Kraft line was designed around beauty, efficiency, and durability when it came to daily cooking. Available in mixing bowls, covered casserole dishes, jugs, teapots, pie servers, and cake plates, they were modeled after the popular Oven Ware series of the 1920s which allowed home cooks to take food directly from the fridge to the oven to the table. Stylish and colorful, Kitchen Kraft offered a bit more of the modern with sleeker shapes and design details that were popular during the Art Deco era.

While Kitchen Kraft came in a variety of beautiful patterns, this large bowl (possibly used as a mixing bowl or a refrigerator bowl) features a pattern that is hard to find these days. Containing a bouquet of bright orange, blue, purple and yellow flowers against an ivory background, it's a bright and sunny companion for all your cooking needs.

Just imagine how many recipes this pretty helper has whipped up throughout her almost-100 year lifetime. Still fully functional for a bowl of such cooking bliss, she also serves as a lovely decorative piece for the kitchen, a colorful fruit bowl on the counter, or an organizer in the fridge or pantry.

In addition to cooking and fruit display, one of the ways we love to use vintage Kitchen Kraft bowls in the fridge today (especially ones of this size) is when things need to be thawed out from the freezer like fish, chicken or leftovers that need time (and space!) to thaw in cold water before cooking. This bowl easily accommodates a whole frozen chicken for such purposes. It's also a great size for gathering vegetables from the garden.
