Soup is the song of the hearth ... and the home. Louis Pullig De Gouy

{HISTORY}

A family-run enterprise that began in 1842,  this rare trio of antique green transferware coupe bowls was made by T & R Boote in their Waterloo pottery in England in the 1890s. Winners of several medals at international exhibitions in the 1800s,  T & R Boote built a worldwide reputation for their exquisite high-quality dishware designs. But interestingly, after the turn of the 20th century, they abandoned that part of the manufacturing process altogether and just focused on producing decorative tiles, some of which when combined together formed gorgeous pastoral landscapes or dynamic geometric patterns for wall designs and flooring.

Like a swan song, that turn of events makes these dishes all the more special since they were made just about a decade before the Boote's switched gears.

This pattern known as Marlborough features sage green floral transferware with gold highlights, an embossed rim, and a scalloped edge. Aged with crazing marks and lovely discoloration these bowls carry the aesthetic of time in the most beautiful way. Whether you choose to incorporate them into accent pieces for your tablescapes or decorative pieces for artistic display,  they offer an exquisite layer of texture, depth, and history to your space year-round.
