{HISTORY}

Compiled by the Garden Club of Lexington, Kentucky in 1985, Bluegrass Winners is a marvelous combination of horse farm history and hospitality. It begins with stories of the farms - their history, their horse prowess, and the landscape that made them remarkable. A suggested menu accompanies each farm with an aesthetic that is most picturesque  - cocktails after the races, a picnic in the park, a post derby lunch, a black-tie dinner, an after tennis soiree, a bridge luncheon, a summer sales party, a wild game dinner, a poolside supper.

Each menu represents recipes that are Southern in nature and most sincere in hospitality - Pimento Cheese Sandwiches, Sour Cream Waffles, Tangerine and Burnt Almond Bombe, Bourbon Balls, Kentucky Spoon Bread, Sausage Coffee Cake, Cheese Grits Souffle,  Benedictine Spread, Spinach Roulade, Brunswick Stew, Chicken Pancakes, Hay Timbles, Cream of Pimento Soup, Burgoo, Wassail, Hot Bricks, Christmas Toddy and the Kentucky Julep all embrace the lifestyle and the atmosphere of Kentucky cordiality.  

A sensation upon first publication in 1985,  the Bluegrass Winners Cookbook has sold over 100,000 copies since its inception.
