Is this where the world began? For surely it had begun in no other than a place like this. The kitchen, without doubt was the center of creation... Ray Bradbury

{HISTORY}

Stoneware mixing bowls add such earthy beauty to the kitchen. This antique primitive style bowl features a pale grey shade and a unique cross-hatch design on the rim and beehive style bowl. Here in the Vintage Kitchen, that cross-hatch style reminds us of that same impressed mark you add to peanut butter cookies just before baking. You know that one - where you use a fork first positioned horizontally and then vertically to create a little design on top.

Unique both in share (see the square bottom)  and color, this pretty shade is both neutral and softly dynamic. The color of pale silver, it's the same shade as the underbelly of a dove or the spent ash of a wood fire with just the hint of beige to give it a warm hue.  Effortless in its ability to fit in with almost any kitchen, it is in gorgeous shape and has been well taken care of throughout its long life. As with many primitive mixing bowls, there are no identifying marks to point to a specific maker other than the number 15 on the bottom.

Double-glazed on the inside and out, this is a lovely bowl for mixing dough. We would suggest not using an electric hand mixer or any metal utensils with this bowl in order to protect its interior glaze, but wooden spoons are a perfect accompaniment. Ready to mix up another 100 years of bread dough, biscuits, pies, and cakes this beauty folds in  100 years of baking bliss with every turn of the spoon.
