{HISTORY}

Never underestimate the joy or abilities of an antique basket.

This splint oak style basket, gorgeous from every angle, was made in the early 1900s back when baskets had all sorts of specific shapes and purposes. This one is of the gathering size which makes it great when put to work in the garden harvesting vegetables or clipping flowers. It also makes a nice picnic basket, thanks to its two handles that swing to each side for easy loading and carrying via arm or hand. 

Lightweight, as all antique baskets are, this one is not of fragile character and is more than ready to be put to good use. It is a  true shame that basketmakers did not sign their pieces, as we can't attribute this one to any specific person or place, but time and condition have demonstrated the true talent of the artist who made it over 100 years ago.

Is it ready for another 100 years in service to you and your adventuresome whims? You bet!

In gorgeous shape, this basket contains no chips or cracks except one tiny 1/4" inch chip on corner on the bottom at the side seam. Please see photo.
