I think there was a freedom in the 1920s and 1930s: a certain liberty and evolution of women. Francois Nars

{HISTORY}

Here it is... the porcelain bowl of interesting shapes and patterns and colors made during a time when femininity was taking on a whole new shape and pattern and color of its own. Made in Germany around the 1920s, this bowl left the the porcelain factory, traveled over oceans and mountains, crossed continents and countrysides and city landscapes in order to wind up here in America.

Feminine and delicate in all ways, this bowl features beautiful art deco detailing which can be seen in the fan-shaped embellishments and dotty details around the rim. The primitive air-brushed style shadowing of fresh floral blooms adds visual surprise in contrast with the highly detailed bouquet of pastel peonies and roses. Like Francois declared in his quote above, there is a feeling of fresh energy and freedom in this bowl that matched the attitudes of women in the 1920s who were declaring new liberties. Times were changing then not only for women but for dishware too.  Along with the classic porcelain florals popular in the 1800's, and the embossed detailing representative of finely crafted German porcelain, this bowl unites the traditional with the bohemian. As a woman back then, this is the type of dishware you wanted in your home if you were ready to make a statement about your forward-thinking viewpoints and separate yourself from the thoughts and ideas surrounding your mom's generation. There was a gorgeous new confidence swirling around in that 1920s air. This artistic bowl represents it most beautifully.
