Oh Alice! Who can resist this timeless classic of Alice in Wonderland and all the characters that populate such a whimsical world? Here in the Vintage Kitchen, we love this story best for its tea parties and its tarts,  and for the rabbit who is always worried about being late. 

Based on a set of stories told to a real-life little girl named Alice (Alice Liddell) and her sisters, Lorinna and Edith, the story of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson (known best by his pen name Lewis Carroll) has been enchanting readers since 1865. 

This edition is the 1941 version of both Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass published for the Heritage Illustrated Bookshelf by the Heritage Press. Featuring the original drawings by John Tenniel, in  addition to the hard-to-find dust jacket, it includes decorated cover boards with a floral design on the front and along the spine. One of the loveliest things about this edition, minus the marvelous illustrations of course, is the introduction, which shares the story in zippy and tender words about how Alice and her wonderland came to be. 

For late-night readers, the font is also a bit larger than more traditional books making it easier on the eyes, especially if reading aloud to kids just before bed.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. The dust jacket is fully intact but bears some chippy spots along the top and bottom edges. There is light foxing along the top and bottom edge of the coverboards. The interior is in gorgeous shape with no foxing, toning or marks of any kind. The spine is tight and all pages are intact. Please see photos.
