Deep in their roots all flowers keep the light. Theodore Roethke

{HISTORY}

Cheerful, like the floral patterns found in vintage oilcloth, this matching set of berry bowls is full of retro charm. Made by Crown Potteries in May 1946, it features a summer flower bouquet of roses and a dainty silver rim with an inner edge of embossing that mirrors the shape of each dish. Collecting Crown Potteries pieces is fun and mysterious, as many vintage pattern names have yet to be uncovered and there is quite a variety of designs. In keeping with that elusive past and pretty markings, these two bowls are low maintenance when it comes to incorporating them into your everyday collection since they contain a colorful batch of hues that will easily match your current dishware. Colors include lavender, yellow, orange, mint green, pumpkin, pink, raspberry, light blue and navy blue - a virtual feast of summer's prettiest shades.

Crown Pottey was started by an English transplant who moved to Indiana in the 1880s. Unfortunately, he died just a couple of years into business leaving the company to shuffle between a few different owners, before it finally merged in the 1890's with Illinois-based Peoria Pottery Company. Combining both old and new names, it became known as Crown Potteries and produced popular dishware up until the mid-1950s.  Known for their beautiful designs and quality craftsmanship, C.P. Co dishes remain popular among collectors today as stylish symbols of retro charm.
