Featuring Johnson Bros' Windsor Ware Marquis pattern, it contains beautiful hand-colored cottage-style flowers in shades of pink, green, mustard, plum, blueberry and chocolate on two sides of the dish. A ropey gadroon-style rim adds extra flair and the backstamp marks on the bottom of the dish add extra story.

Included with the manufacturing mark, you'll also see the initials F.B. & Co - the mark of the Philadelphia, PA importer for whom this sugar bowl was made. Formally known as Fisher, Bruce & Co, this family-run Pennsylvania importer was located in the heart of downtown Philadelphia on Market Street. Operating from the 1880s-1970s, F.B. & Co imported dishware from England, Italy, and France and shipped it around the U.S. to various retail clients. While we may not be able to trace this sugar bowl's exact journey, we do know at least four stops on its journey as it made its way from England to Philadelphia to Seattle to Connecticut. Were there extra cities between Philadelphia and Seattle? Maybe! In any regards, this one is a well-traveled bowl with more adventures to come when you add your own location and new layer of storytelling too.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

Matching set of two

Hard to find piece in the Marquis pattern

Hand-colored

Stamped on bottom with maker's mark, pattern name, series name, the importer's name and the personalized painted mark of the decorator.

{CONDITION}

In gorgeous vintage condition, this sugar bowl contains no chips, cracks, spots, or stains.
