Although we couldn’t find the exact name of this pattern, we do know that it also came in a maroon and gold option, and that the floral bouquet was part of many other pattern designs offered by French Saxon.

Enhancing this beautiful color palette are intricate webs of delicate crazing, stained and splotchy in various areas, giving each plate noble character and a deep sense of story.

The merging of equipment from two defunct potteries, the French China Company and Saxon China, resulted in the newly formed French Saxon China Company in 1934. Stamped on the back of each dinner plate is the mark for the union, the National Brotherhood of Operative Potters, which changed its name in 1952 to the International Brotherhood of Pottery Workers, so the date when these two dishes were made falls between those two timelines.

With a very shiny glaze and shimmery detailing thanks to the filigree, these two plates are excellent candidates for wall display since they reflect light beautifully. On a candlelit table, they glow and flicker. In a room flooded with natural light, they shine. And in low lighting, the blue band almost looks black, and the gold turns into an opaque overlay twinkling here and there like distant stars in the night sky.

{SPECIAL FEATURES}

Had to find pattern

Stamped on back with maker's mark

{CONDITION}

In beautiful, well-loved condition, these plates contain no chips or cracks. There is a small, insignificant scratch that measures 1/4 inch in length between the blue band center circular filigree. Light and dark crazing lines add additional layers of interest and an aged aesthetic. The gold filigree is crisp and clear. The floral bouquets are bright and vibrant in color.
