{HISTORY}

Based in Beaver Falls PA, Mayer China was started by two brothers in 1881. They made dishware for all sorts of commercial eating establishments from mom and pop restaurants to cruise ships, airlines to train lines, big city hotels to small city diners, and everything in between, including the military.

These cups (12 in total) were made in the 1950s for their Aragon pattern which featured red leaves around the rim and also along with the handle. Many pieces of vintage restaurant ware are marked either through monograms on the front or labels on the back as to which food establishment they were intended for. But not all pieces come bearing such evident distinctions. These cups are not marked with any specific notations as to whom they would be serving and where, but the Vanderbilt Hotel in New York City utilized this same pattern in the 1950s as well, so possibly they were part of that famous hotel's collection as well.

That's the joy of collecting vintage restaurant ware  - so many stories and possibilities are contained in each piece they act like little storybooks of past culinary history. Because there are 12 cups in total in this collection, they are each available individually so that you can find just the right amount you need.
