{HISTORY}

A member of the botanical herbs and shrub family, Eupatori is short for the word Eupatorieae, a tribe of over 2000 plants that includes asters, daisies and sunflowers. First named by French botanist Count Alexandre Henri Gabriel de Cassini in 1819, Eupatori was used for both garden cultivation and medicinal purposes, acting as an anti-inflammatory and offering relief from a host of other symptoms. 

This antique apothecary bottle dates to the 1800's and contains an original paper label and covered with a clear glass protector label that was applied directly on top of the paper label.  Originally, it would have sat on a druggist's shelf along with a host of other similar herbal bottles, administering help when needed. Can't you just imagine a whole cupboard full of these?!

A beauty in both form and function, this handmade bottle also contains it's original glass stopper, a rare treat for a rare bottle.  Nowadays antique bottles can be used for a variety of decorating purposes from vases and specimen collections to holders for your own special tonics and tinctures. Here in the Vintage Kitchen, we think this bottle would be a gorgeous candidate for your bar cart, acting as a vessel for your extra-special signature house made cocktail. Maybe a botanical gin or a flower infused vodka perhaps?!

{CONDITION}

The bottle itself is in gorgeous shape with no cracks or chips. You'll notice the glass protector over the paper label has two cracks in it and is missing one small chunk in the bottom right corner of the label. The bottle itself was handmade so there are a few lovely air bubbles on the side wall and in the bottom. The glass stopper is in wonderful condition and contains no chips or cracks.
