{HISTORY}

Tennesse was so right about the delicately spun glass. But that same sentiment can also be applied to vintage organza too. In this case, with this sheer vintage hostess apron, and fabric so exquisitely silky and transparent, it is a marvel that this piece of history managed to so carefully travel more than half a century all in one piece. 

Dainty, feminine and beautifully kept, this type of hostess apron was meant to be worn with your best party dress while serving guests at home. Curiously though, this one also comes with an added surprise - it's reversible  - which makes it quite the intriguing little charmer.

Featuring one side that consists of organza printed with pink floral bouquets tied up in ribbons and adorned with a scalloped lace edge, while the other side reveals a transparent layer (allowing the pink flowers to ever so lightly peek through) and pockets for gathering, this is a very interesting and unique arrangement on such a pretty apron.

The pockets on one side, of which there are three, run along with the hem of the apron, and are separated by stitches allowing for three individual compartments. After consulting with a vintage fashion expert, it's been decided that this apron was most likely homemade in preparation for a wedding party, bridal shower or warm weather garden party. An event that would require some party prep and a functional (yet pretty!) covering to be worn over a party dress.  Most hostess aprons of the 20th century were made for the lightest of work and were intended to always give off the perception that entertaining was magically effortless. This one supports that magical illusion in the most lovely of ways.
