Vintage Hand-Painted Turkey Platter - 11x14 Unique Folk Art, Rare Pottery Mold, Bird Art
All real works of art look as if they were done in joy. -- Robert Henri (1865-1929)
{HISTORY}
Handpainted in 1980, this colorful turkey platter serves as both a functional dish and a cheerful piece of art. A rarity in the world of turkey platter molds with its wavy edges and rectangular shape, the painter of this project really knew what they were doing in the artistic abilities department. Complimentary red, orange, peach, pumpkin, mustard, grey and beige carry the colors of the season in the bundled cornstalks and falling leaves. Subtle painting techniques, overlapping washes and color variation add depth and unique perspective. And then there is the big grey guy himself, handsome as can be with his red head and proud plumage. Great for wall displays, food service or just general ooohing and ahhhing.
