Vintage Cross-Stitch Embroidery Tablecloth - 48x48 Colorful Bluebirds and Floral Design
...And so remember this... life is no abyss...somewhere there is a bluebird of happiness. From the 1934 song Bluebird of Happiness
{HISTORY}
This vintage cross-stitch embroidery tablecloth is a beautiful work of art. Not only is it functional, but it also serves as a sewing record of midcentury needlework that is both colorful and wonderfully executed. When we see such a pretty cloth as this one, we realize what a shame it is that the sewer didn't stitch their name and date into the piece so that we can give proper credit to the stitcher and their artistry. this bit of mystery does give us the opportunity though to daydream about how this cloth came into being and who might have made it and why they chose this pattern and how long it took to make. Most likely this tablecloth was made during the 1960's based on the colors of the thread and served as a game or card table cover based on its size. Now its suited for a host of different purposes. One of our personal favorite ways to enjoy vintage tablecloths is as picnic blankets. Their sunny personalities always match the festive atmosphere and look gorgeous in photos.

{STYLE IDEA}
Vintage tablecloths have a wide variety of modern purposes. We like to use them especially as picnic blankets for outdoor summer dining and stargazing. But other options abound as far as transformation too. You can repurpose them into curtains, pillows, aprons, market bags or simply use them as originally intended to liven up your place or party.
