Floral Bouquet...a new mood. Now... famous Corningware with the added feature of color! Hues of green and yellow set the mood for today's entertaining. Corningware advertisement, 1969

{HISTORY}

 A baking staple in kitchens around the world, Corning Glass Works has made heating food in the oven easy since 1915. They first started with Pyrex oven-proof glass dishes in the early 1900's eventually graduating to their beloved Corning Ware brand in the 1950's when they debuted their popular blue cornflower pattern. Designed by a Connecticut ad agency artist named Joseph Baum, Blue Cornflower quickly became the iconic pattern most often associated with the Corning Ware brand.

Available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes these blue and white bakeware dishes became indispensable for home cooks. Fulfilling three purposes in one dish - baking, storing and serving, Corning Ware made a big impact on the midcentury kitchen scene. With their easy stacking abilities, variety of shapes and sizes, multi-function design and affordable price range, they instantly became treasured kitchen helpers.

 In 1969, Corning Ware introduced the Floral Bouquet pattern, a series of three different floral designs that incorporated the colors of yellow, sage, and navy blue.  Always intended as a limited edition series, Floral Bouquet was not produced in the same abundance as the reliable bestsellers  - Cornflower and Spice of Life patterns. Only in production for 6 years, Floral Bouquet was discontinued in 1975, which makes it a fun pattern for collectors today, since there were not as many pieces made and they tend to be more difficult to find.

This Floral Bouquet two-quart loaf pan was made between 1971-1975 and features the third design in the pattern line. With its delicate line drawings and free-spirit style, it matched the mood of the 1970's flower power aesthetic bringing a bit of peace, love and happiness to the kitchen.

The Corning Ware brand stopped production in 1989 after it was sold to Borden and then renamed World Kitchen Market. Although new versions of the cornflower pattern were reproduced in the 1990's, under the new WKM brand, home cooks continued to prefer vintage versions over brand-new ones. To this day, collectors of this beloved dishware remain loyal to the original production pieces thus creating a strong and steady market.
