{HISTORY}

Homer Laughlin dishware is always a favorite. Not only are they America's most prolific dishware maker, but they are also one of the oldest continuously operating potteries in the country. First founded by brothers, Homer and Shakespeare Laughlin, in East Liverpool, Ohio in 1871 - HL has grown into a worldwide recognized brand that has decorated kitchens and tables for over 145 years.

As you can imagine, a century and a half of dish manufacture results in an immense variety of patterns and designs. This vintage pair of Homer Laughlin cereal bowls were part of their restaurant ware collection.

Dating to 1963 and 1965, these two bowls would have been serving up something delicious in a variety of possible establishments from diners to luncheonettes, dining halls to cafeterias. That's the romance of a good piece of restaurant ware! Storytellers in a myriad of ways, every single piece offers little clues as to where they might have spent their serving time. These two feature a rolled rim for easy grab-and-go transport, signaling these were most likely used for a busy eatery (like a diner) where servers were quickly grabbing and carrying multiple dishes at once.

Ideally sized for a lot of different foods thanks to their deep well, these are useful vessels in the kitchen for a variety of foods including oatmeal, cereal, soup, cozy cold-weather crumbles and crisps, ice cream, salads, etc.. Everything looks a bit more festive when served in vintage restaurant ware.
