Sometimes all the information on a dish can still yield quite a perplexing mystery. Such is the case with this vintage creamer in its cute little individual size. Marked Sandyford on the bottom, which was a pottery town in the very busy ceramic hub of Stoke-On-Trent, England it also bears the name Boston China Co Ltd. with a small crown. B.C.C could have been the name of the pottery that made this little charmer but it also could be the name of the American import company that ordered it for customers in the US. Also on the bottom, it contains the word, classic, which could be the pattern name or the shape name. Such mysteries. 

After much research, nothing proved a match for pattern, pottery or importer so this little wonder now sits on the merits of her own beauty. Unique in shape and pretty in palette, the design includes an emerald green stripe, raised embossing, and a floral bouquet of poppies, cornflower, and wheat. Made for tea trays and serving someone something warm and comforting, individual creamers are a lovely companion to an afternoon cup of tea, breakfast in bed or a relaxing respite in the garden. Not meant to serve a crowd, just one person, they are a refined worker that sets the tone for a little self-care and luxury when it comes to taking a break. Like a cloth napkin, or an embroidered handkerchief, or an antique porcelain tea cup, petite creamers such as this are a small detail in making your day feel just a bit more decadent.

Based on pattern, shape, and color palette we suspect this creamer dates to the 1930s/1940s era.
