Vintage Taylor Smith Taylor English Abbey Sugar Bowl circa 1940s
{HISTORY}
Featuring a pastoral setting of English gardens and abbey window ruins, this beautiful red transferware sugar bowl was made by Taylor Smith & Taylor in West Virginia during the 1940s. Available in two different colors - blue and red - this pattern is similar to scenes found in romantic toile fabric and contains vistas of beautiful country vignettes.
Originally, this sugar bowl included a lid which went missing somewhere along its journey, but what was lost, was also gained in a new way to look at this pretty server. With it delicate handles and statuesque style, this sugar bowl easily turns into a small urn perfect for holding flowers, succulents, and herbs in the most beautiful of ways. A table centerpiece doesn't have to be a big, boisterous affair, there is plenty to delight the eye in a bouquet that's small. Like a still-life subject, this vessel is a petite piece of art, offering all sorts of creativity when it comes to artistic arrangements and styling.
