Just like Craig Claiborne suggested in his quote above, this platter is one of those vintage serving pieces that has the powerful ability to define your entire tablesetting style. Bright for spring with its robin's egg blue band and decorative rose rimmed border, it captures all the fresh pastel shades of the season without being bland or redundant. Steubenville Pottery, located in Steubenville, Ohio was in operation from 1879 to 1959. This is their BluRose pattern, made most likely sometime between the 1940's and the 1950's. A Pottery appreciated by consumers for their charming designs, Steubenville was known for creating quite an interesting array of dishware. Producing artistic patterns and shapes, some with sleek lines, modern colors and minimalist designs right alongside more more traditional florals ensured that they appealed to a wide audience with distributors ranging from big cities in the Northeast to small towns and communities in the Midwest. This platter is from one of their more traditional pattern lines, which makes it both classic and timeless in style and shape, yet also adds a dash of artistic vibrancy in appearance.

{CONDITION}

In lovely vintage condition. No chips or cracks. Some rub marks around the gold rim and on handles. Imagery is crisp and bright.

Measures 14.75" inches (length) x 10" inches (width) and weighs just a smidge under 2lbs.
