{HISTORY}

Classic in every way possible, this blue and white cake plate was made by Spode, the famed English pottery in the 1990s. Part of their Blue Room collection, features the sumptuous Byron Groups imagery based on a copper engraving first introduced in the early 1800s. Combining two styles in one, it contains the Warwick floral bouquet at center and a portion of the Byron Views pattern (inspired by the life and work of Lord Byron) around the edge, offering a gorgeous decorative aesthetic no matter the size or slice of your cake. 

The back features a portrait of the company's founder Josiah Spode I (1733-1797) who opened shop in the English pottery hub of Stoke-on-Trent England in 1767. Continued through several generations of family ownerrship and several successful partnerships Spode operated until 2009, when it was purchased by Portmeiron Pottery. 

It's hard to imagine any type of cake that would not look beautiful when presented on this plate. And in its off hours, when it is not serving up something delectable, it make a gorgeous decor piece propped up in your china cabinet or on display on your countertop.
