Vintage 1970s Poppy Salad Plates by Quasar Stoneware - Set of Four
{HISTORY}
Combining the mod graphic style of midcentury minimalism with earthy stoneware and a cheerful color palette, these artistically designed salad plates were made in Japan by Quasar in the 1970s. Hand-painted in shades of cantaloupe, celadon and lemon with black detailing, they are just the ticket to brighten up the summer table.
Ideally sized at 7.75" inches in diameter, their uses far surpass just the serving of salad. Great for small plates, desserts, snacks and petite party platters, they are poolside ready, barbecue bound, and picnic approved.
There is not much information available on Quasar as a brand, but as far as dishware goes, they made a variety of patterns in the 1970s in full dish sets that featured artistic, hand-painted designs. Florals on clay-colored stoneware were their trademark, offering an array of variations on a theme in a wide variety of colors. Simple but full of personality, Quasar pieces are fun to collect in mismatch style nowadays for a veritable garden-centric tablescape that is all abloom with colorful vintage style.
